John Southern - NPTCC

Roger Bricknell won his third trial in month at the John Southern Sporting trial in the Lake District, once again making the trip from Cornwall worthwhile. Local driver Dave Martin was his closest challenger in very slippery early conditions and finished second ahead of Roland Uglow who had also travelled from Cornwall on the steep sections. Barry Hogg finished a brilliant fourth overall and won the intermediate class. Mark Campbell also had a superb day in the club section finished sixth overall ahead of intermediate class runner-up Dave Rance. Ian Evitt won the novice class.

Triple RAC Sporting trials champion Ian Bell made a return to the sport at the John Southern trial on Sunday. Having won the RAC championship between 1993 and 1995 Bell returned with son Andrew in the passenger seat having recently purchased a Kim Warwick's Hamilton, which bears closely resembles the multiple championship winning Crosslé. Bell finished in an encouraging fifth overall on the John Southern Sporting Trial
