Rennison extends his lead
Added: 20th June 2007
Ben Rennison maintained his maximum score at the head of the BTRDA® Clubmans Rallycross Championship in round four where he qualified on pole for the Junior A final in the rain-shortened event.Rennison has yet to be beaten in the BTRDA® series and not only leads the Junior class but has established a six point advantage in the overall championship.
The BTRDA® championship regards the classes as equal and at the year end the driver with the highest points score irrespective of class is the champion. The chase of Rennison is led by Stock Hatch racer Dave Baines. Enjoying his most successful year to date, Baines won the Stock Hatch class twice at the start of the season, since when he has scored a brace of second place finishes [the BTRDA® series has a slightly different calendar from the BRC and has already completed four rounds of its nine rounds]. There’s a long way to go yet, and Baines could catch Rennison again.
In third and fourth places are brothers Ash and Russ Simpson. Ash, the older of the two, has won Stock Hatch at rounds three and four while Junior racer Russ has been in the top five in all four events, including a pair of second places.
SuperModified racers do not feature in the top five of the championship as no driver has scored in all four rounds. Dave Brown leads the class from Gary Pusey.
