Duncan Stephens (provisionally) secured the MSA British Car Trial championship on Sunday 25 July for the first time. Having won the MSA Sporting Trials championship last year Stephens became only the second person ever to win the two different trials discipline championships, but first back to back.

Stephens commented: "all the hard work of expert passenger Jade Bray has won us many points during the year to clinch class places and win three events during the year, and without this I wouldn't have won. Winning the class on the last section of the HCC Wales trial on Sunday made the championship success very special indeed."

Stephens' father, Mike, has won the MSA Car Trial championship five times previously - most recently in 1997, thus also becoming the first father and son to win the MSA Championship. Stephens junior's success interrupted Dave Oliver's potential hat-trick of MSA Car Trial championships.
