Warwickshire Car Trial
Date: 17th May 2009
The Warwickshire Car Trial was the Drive '09 winners, Graeme and Sophie's first event, located 4 miles from the M40 in the beautiful scenery of the Burton Dassett national park. Clerk of the course Duncan Stephen's had laid out 8 tricky sections to be attempted 4 times. The winners arrived to beautiful sunshine which in a matter of minutes turned into torrential showers leading to the ground changing from being a good starting trial to a novice's nightmare. Both drivers showed real aptitude in the dreadful conditions trading off best scores on each of the hills. Ladies car trialling champion and chief marshal on hill 6 Jo Preston was very impressed with the way both drive winners were tackling the hills considering the conditions. Graeme's superb climb on hill eight in the second round where subtle throttle control got him a 4 was then matched a few hills later when Sophie navigated the Micra round a tricky 6 marker in the slippery conditions equalling the rear wheel drive Imps to gain a very credible 3. Come the end of the day Graeme managed to pull a few points clear of Sophie who were 4th and 5th in the class 1 category respectively. Sam Williams from the Motorsports Future Group took the novice award and 2nd in class behind the class winner Nick Pollit both once again sharing the Saxo. Both Sophie and Graeme enjoyed their day despite the conditions and on behalf of Motorsports Future we would like to thank everyone who welcomed and helped our 2 drivers on their first event.Event Map:
