First Event of Program

A tired but happy pair following their first event
Both John Fox (Motorsports News competition winner) and Julian Archard (Under 17 Car Club winner) both competed in the Warwickshire Drivers Autotest on Sunday 4th May in the first event of the BTRDA® Drive's six event program.
With three tests layed out which they competed five times in total. Following a days training a month ago both John and Julian excelled on challenging tests in the totalled standard Nissan Micra, which was facing some really stiff competition in the class, in lightweight Nova's.
John finished twelfth in class with Julian just behind, beating numerous people, in what was a tough introduction to motorsport. However, John did comment that it was SERIOUSLY GOOD FUN and the atmosphere and support of the Motorsports Future group was great. Been guided throughout the day by Andy Egger was very useful on our first event.
Julian was equally satisfied with his performance though had the added challenge of not been old enough to drive on the road so lacked a little driving practice, only normally driving on alternate Sunday's at Under 17 car club events. It has been a challenging day but totally enjoyable and I will be going back to the club and telling them all all about it. First looking at the test layout diagram was very worrying, though the support of all other competitors was unbelievable, not just the Motorsports Future group.
BTRDA® Chairman, Mike Sones, was competing in John Moffatt's Nova in the class and was amazed at how well both John and Julian aquitted themselves and rapidly improved. It was also great to see them enjoying themselves so much and getting on so well. We look forward to how they develop during the year.
John and Julian next event of BTRDA® Drive will be the Kidderminster Motor Club, Wyre Forrest Car Trial on Sunday 8th June, near Stourport.
