Close Win for Moffatt
Date: 6th May 2007
The latest round of the Demon Tweeks BTRDA® Autotest Championship renewed the rivalry of seven years ago as Alastair Moffatt in the Mini Special fought all day for his first FTD of the year against the ABS of Stephen Wild. Paul was cruising at lunchtime but a 5 second penalty on test 9 dropped him to second by 1.7 seconds. They each set three fastest times over the remaining tests to finish with a margin of only 0.9 seconds. Duncan Wild shared the ABS and used its agility to recover from a penalty and draw clear of Richard Pinkney who was the fastest sports car driver. Gavin Dickson was once again the winning saloon, just ahead of Ian Chapman in his Westfield. Chris Atkinson borrowed his wife's Alfa Buggy and won the small sports car class while Clair was the fastest lady despite a three year lay off.
Swift beats the Expert
Date: 22nd April 2007
Paul Swift maintained his unbeaten start to the season in the BTRDA® and MSA Championships with a commanding win. Paul returned from a successful visit to Northern Ireland the previous day accompanied by Ken Irwin and Robin Lyons. These three were to battle for overall honours with Alastair Moffatt. Ken was making a rare appearance in England and showed that he still has the skill to challenge for overall honours with an excellent second place.
No Fool Today
Date: 1st April 2007
Paul Swift extended his lead in the BTRDA® Championship and started his challenge for the MSA Championship with another FTD in dry sunny conditions. Penalties for Alastair Moffatt (Mini Special) and Stephen Wild (ABS) on test one gave Paul the initiative which he was not to loose. The challenge was taken up by Simon Echlin in his Westfield and Malcolm Livingston in the Lotus 7. A late charge by Stephen took him past Malcolm when he suffered a gearbox problem.
Champion Wins
Date: 4th March 2007
Paul Swift started the defence of his BTRDA® title in emphatic style with a winning margin of a minute. Initially Stephen and Duncan Wild challenged Paul until a broken drive coupling sidelined the ABS. Gavin Dickson mastered the wet conditions in his Nova and closed to within five seconds of second placed Simon Echlin at the end. Ben Morten took the small sports car class and completed the top six with his best ever result.
