It was over to Wales in early July for a busy weekend of autotesting. Caenarvonshire and Anglesey CC laid out four tests on the roads of the Anglesey Showground to challenge the competitors. As they arrived there was a sea drizzle rolling across the site and walking the tests was not pleasant after the glorious weather of recent weeks. The event started at midday and slick marshalling of the 16 tests had everyone on their way to the East of Wales by 16.30.  

Stephen Wild entered his first event since the Ken Whaton last year and after the first test where dad Duncan beat him, he was on the pace and took a well deserved FTD. Richard Pinkney handed him the ABS driver the advantage with a wrong test. They traded times for the rest of the event as Richard recovered to second place in the Caterham 7. David Thompson used the damp conditions in the first two rounds to his advantage in the Nova and was second at the halfway stage. However as the weather dried up Duncan Wild, sharing the Freestyle took third place from David. The last round of tests could have upset the results as the rain returned. The sports cars had a dry run on the first two tests while the specials struggled but the quick drying surface favoured the specials on the last two tests, honours even.

The Lindsay Special of Malcolm Livingston and Martin McKenzie suffered a misfire at the start of the day. Help from Duncan Wild improved the running but it was not fully on song all day. Despite this, Malcolm took a good fifth place. Chris Chapman was pleased to beat father Ian in the Striker. Rob Rolston's Mini had a broken handbrake in the afternoon but managed a temporary repair so that he retained the class lead. He was able to perform a permanaent repair the following morning at Demon Tweeks.
