Happy Landings AutoSolo
Date: 22nd July 2007
BTRDA® Vice Chairman on his way to Fastest Time of Day in his Lotus Elise 111R
Nick Pollitt proved the surprise of the day winning his own club's third autoSolo in his Lotus Elise from Paul Fobister who took maximum points for the Demon Tweeks Newcomers Challenge. Early leader Tim Seipel struggled to put the power of his Caterham down in the rain finishing a close third.
Drive of the day was between Sam Williams debuting his Saxo taking fourth overall and John Hunter driving a £50 Escort diesel who finished twelfth, just behind former MSA Autotest champion Mike Sones. Steve Stringer won his class in his VW Golf with some very spirited drives.
Williams had a day long battle with Jamie Yapp, who had won the first round of the challenge, but opened out a lead on the last test. Steve Dolby would have challenged for the win but a wrong test on the first test cost him any chance of the overall victory.
